    January 13, 2020 - Hertog Jan, Grand Prestige, 2017, 30cl, Bier Cat.S, 10%.
Ingr.: water, (4 different types of) malted barley, wheat starch (!), sugar, color (sic): caramel (sic) and hops (only one hop, being Hallertau ?) (no yeast, spontaneous fermentation ?, haha)
InBev Nederland N.V. (a subsidiary of Anheuser-Busch InBev)
    Lot: 04/14:47 110
    BBE: 08/2019
    EAN: 87292220
    WBC 2014 Gold
    Barley Wine
    EBC 90
    IBU ???
    TN:
    Much lighter than I expected.
    No real ageing tones.
    Good and with balance.
Mildly sweet and black burned tones.
I was expecting more / better.
But it's price is low for what you get.
In doubt about S=85 or 86.
S=85-86 R=8(1) 1/13/20 M=2017-2032, but I do not expect much improvement. Although I like sweet wines very much, I mostly do not like the (much) sweeter Porto-like tones in old(er) beers.

    October 9, 2017 - Hertog Jan, Grand Prestige, 30cl, 2017, 10%.
ingredients: water, malted barley, wheat starch (!), sugar, color (sic): caramel (sic) and hops (no yeast, spontaneous ?, haha)
    THT/BBE: 23/08/2019
    300 ml standard beer bottle
    InBev Nederland N.V.
I could not taste a difference with the 500 ml quasi jar / glass bottle.

    September 2, 2017 - Hertog Jan, Grand Prestige, 2017, 500ml kruik (jar), 10%.
Ingredients: water, malted barley, wheat starch (!), sugar, color (sic): caramel (sic) and hops (no yeast, spontaneous ?, haha)
    Prod. code: 4/14:14 010
    THT/BBE: no expire date
    InBev Nederland N.V.
500 ml rip off quasi 'look-a-like' pottery 'kruik' (jar), which is completely made from glass, but covered with pottery like materials; so, a waste of materials and money !
with champagne like musselet and pressed cork stopper, but from decent quality, so you can keep it laying down.
World Beer Cup 2014: Gold & Best Belgian-Style Dark Strong Ale (cat. 63).
    sight: donker amber/robijn, helder
    at 10 C:
    nearly no foam
    fijne mousse
    conclusion:
I was surprised, a good beer, well made, clean, nice bitters, some roasted malt and caramel taste, but not dominant or too sweet, not even at 18 C, fairly good balance and length, not so complex.
I was surprised how good it was, my expectation was especially that it would be too sweet.
in doubt or I will give it 90 instead of 89 points.
and you can keep this beer for at least 2 to 4 years.
will it get more complex than ?
    I think so.
and maybe of for sure sweeter and that I will not like.
curious how my second bottle will taste.
and I have to do a Chimay Blauw A/B to this baby.
The body is medium/full. The wine has round texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has low acidity.
    S=89 R=7.5 9/2/17 M=2017-2032
