November 30, 2023 - This is a good wine. It is very close to a very good Bordeaux blend. I need to decant it the next time. It has potential.

November 19, 2023 - Very dark in color. Nose was quiet but some dark fruit trying to come through. Body was medium plus, less than expected. Flavors were overall kind of muted but a bit of dark fruits and some oak influences. Was drinking it by the glass and the end of a long day/night so might be a bit of a tough analysis. Overall, nothing really notable. At the Palazzo

July 11, 2020 - On the nose, the ripe fruit indicates that his wine has seen a lot of sun and that gets confirmed in the alcohol levels which also make the finish a slightly bitter. Overall, an ok wine but slightly unbalanced. Decent finish. Not the best value for money in my view but that is more a Napa problem than specific to this wine

January 26, 2020 - Dark purple, nearly opaque. Strong spice on the nose, leather, oak, umami. Love the scent. Palate is smooth and round, and notes of caramel surface over time. Fruit is dark, like raisin or prune, green pepper, and mostly noticeable on the finish. Tannins and acidity are folded up and not a strong factor. A touch of sweet aftertaste. Day 2 the body roughens up a little with stronger acidity and tannins, giving the finish a little more interest. Tannins are actually quite a bit stronger and my mouth cotton dry. Nose is still delicious, savory. Day 3 acidity increases to balance out tannins. Body is smooth (too smooth?) with very good balance, nice layers of scent and flavor (maybe heaviest on the bell pepper?) all the way to the bottom of the bottle.

So...would I buy again at $35? QPV says probably not -- comparable wines available <$20, even a few <$10.

January 5, 2020 - As is common with many Cain wines, lots of bret on this one. Some Cain wines are among the best I have ever drank, but many have too much bret for my palate

December 30, 2019 - this was a real miss for me. quite stinky on the nose. it eventually blew off, but not completely. mostly red fruit but a bit disjointed and quite thin on the palate. hot on the finish. I had this a few years ago at a cain wine dinner and remember it being much better.
