Community Tasting Notes 2

March 13, 2021 - Distinctive age on the nose, particularly honeyed with some baking spices and nuts (hazelnut?). The palate is rich with some discernible oak and notes of pineapple, ripe apples, honey and nuts. Acid is very well integrated, harder to discern amongst the overall high concentration of flavour as well as a creaminess. Dry with a very long finish.

September 5, 2017 - Old Vine Series Tasting with Ian Naude (Hosted by Greg Sherwood MW) (Handford Wines, London): Bush vines 50yrs+ in age from 2 vineyards. Side by side with the 2013 (Papies 93).
Leaner expression of the grape, especially vs the 2013, more citrus less honey, more tension and minerality. Lacks a bit the depth of flavour of the 2013 but this is very special in its own way more akin to a Cotat wine rather than a south African Chenin. Very good and an easy 93
