February 3, 2024 - Short decant fine. Here's hoping the 2013's are finally opening up...
December 25, 2023 - After feeling meh about the first two times we had this 2 and 3 years ago (it was too tight with no complexity or fruit) this wine seems to have finally hit its stride. It is not a Napa fruit bomb, however. I found it to be med-full bodied, somewhat restrained, and reasonably complex. Definitely more of a Bordeaux style Cabernet than most of its Napa neighbors.
December 18, 2023 - All the Napa signature traits are there. It's full bodied, fruit-forward, and well oaked. However; it's not overdone. Everything is in balance and after being open for about an hour it gained more balance and became a delicious cab. Red and black currants, a touch of oak, a touch of bay leaf. Really very nice. I'm going to open another one but decant for about 2 hours....
December 14, 2023 - Color, dark ruby red; decanted 45 minutes. 1st nose liquor; 2nd nose, alcohol, anise and rose pedals. On the palate, smooth almost silky, but there is a lot of persistent tannins. Medium to long finish. I think it still has 5-10 years of life.
November 14, 2023 - Enjoying with BBQ and Neva!!!!!
June 13, 2023 - 1 1/2 hour decant time. Dark ruby-garnet in colour. Nose of black cherries, blackberries, dark plums, with a hint of milk chocolate and rose petals. Blackberries, blueberries, with some chalky dark chocolate and bits of black cherries are noted on the palate; tannins are still alive and well. Medium-full bodied with a medium+ finish. Last tasted November 2017.
January 24, 2022 - Same as my last note. Drinking really nice right now but has the stuff to go longer and get silkier and develop secondary flavors. Still youthful now.
October 4, 2021 - All the classic Napa cab notes are there. This is starting to integrate nicely. Day 2 was much better. Has the fruit and stuffing to go another 6+Yrs. Will have another one in a few months.
January 1, 2021 - Really nice, classic, Napa cab with plenty of structure, silky blue and black fruits. Good finish. Nothing that really stood out or made me say wow, but an all-around solid and pleasurable wine. Drink now or over the next 5+ years.
November 6, 2020 - PNP but took four hours to consume. Great floral aromas. Dark violet in the glass. Medium full mouthfeel that was dominated by a tart cherry element throughout the evening. Other flavors included oak, cedar, plum, raspberry and white chocolate. Exclusive of the tart cherry bit, the texture was smooth, velvety and approachable ending with a pleasant, warming finish. Very good but a few notches less than outstanding.
