Community Tasting Notes 5

March 12, 2019 - Very fresh, fruity, lots of cherry. Oak less obvious today, more fruit. Slightly short finish but might need to warm up a bit (poured at 14-15C). Actually I’m still tasting it now so not short just s but faint on the finish due to temperature I think. Quite intense now on third sip.
Worked well with steak (remaining youthful and fruity) and with Epoisses (become a tiny bit more balsamic like but without losing intensity of fruit).

April 15, 2018 - Tried the very end of a Coravin’d bottle after Wagyu beef and a beautiful 2000 Ch Belgrave. This seems so much sweeter and softer than before. Cherry or even raspberry and cream, like those sweets. Soooo good.

March 22, 2018 - Tried after a ripe, 2011 NZ Marlborough pinot noir (Villa Maria Wine Society Exhibition). Wow, this is so tannic, green, acidic, reticent and hard work in comparison. But I kind of like it. Sticks to the side of the mouth, very underripe fruit in comparison. The flavours seem muted. Nothing confected about this at all, which I worried about before. a touch of smoke now and that sugar puff note I got before.
In comparison the kiwi seems very ripe, oakier, soft, yet strangely it's picking up on the tannin from the Lux, which is still there 2 mins later.
After some gouda cheese and this seems very oaky and almost petrolly now. Really curious.

February 2, 2018 - Excellent. Very classy oak but also beautiful fruit underneath. On its own very good, with a duck and foie gras burger it was beautiful. Would have repeatedly fooled me into thinking it was Burgundy. It’s obviously like a young Burgundy of 2-4 years old. No idea really how this will age due to lack of experience with Lux Pinot but would imagine it will age 10 years based on perceived quality.

November 26, 2017 - Coravin tasting. Tasted blind against a 2014 Ladoix 1er Cru (Burgundy).
Shy nose, sweetish, cherry, no oak. Some herbs coming through now. On the palate, very classy, beautiful oak, nice fruit. Cherry, sweet, nice tannin. Acidity not particularly noticeable. This is very good but still quite young.
2nd taste: Nicer nose now. Oak and cherry. Beautiful classy fruit, great oak. Intense, drinking well now but time should improve this. Quite tannic.
Improving and unquestionably better on 3rd tasting. Far superior to wine 2 (which I assumed was the Luxembourgish wine and this was the Burgundy - shocked to find this was actually the Luxembourg wine!)
