Smooth, dark, lots of brambly fruit, easy drinking if not particularly complicated. It seems relatively easy to buy more expensive wines in a wine club, but I wonder if I would put forth the coin to buy this from a wine shop.

  April 26, 2020 - I have generally associated Porter Creek zinfandels with a more austere restrained character compared with the often jammy almost decadent lushness of some; but I find on this 2015 some of the latter. Quite ripe, jammy and opulent, some smoke and spice. I had opened a bottle of the same in January and don't recall that same experience.

  January 8, 2020 - Having just returned from the Russian River, which included a visit to Porter Creek - always a pleasant experience, made a point to drink down the remaining bottles. This zinfandel is not a heavyweight by any means: deep purplish red moderate weight on the palate, some spicy smoky notes but mainly ripe brambly fruit and not overcooked at all. Pleasant if not memorable, which I think could go for many wines from this producer.

  February 4, 2018 - At its apex now. Decent acidity but not for the long haul. Some anise on the nose and rather spicy with plenty of vanilla notes (oak) on the palate. Great mouthfeel and sustained finish. Drink by 2020.
