June 19, 2021 - This was big and powerful, but was also somewhat composed and not overdone, with some restraint. I can see why this was rated so high. A bit linear, striking, has a Rhone feel to it. Will benefit from a bit more time, but already showing ok for those who like power like this. An interesting wine but now sure it's one to load up on; will be interesting to taste on day 2.

Was a little better still on the 2nd day - a bit more resolved. The alcohol is a bit pronounced. Overall, a really interesting wine, though probably not a crowd pleaser. I might get more more to forget about for a few years.

February 5, 2021 - I drank it too young. The sweet fruit was beautifully integrated with silky tannins, no rough edges to the wine, touches of spice heightening the palate. The wine hinted at the complexity that I hope will come in a few years. The stuffing is there, I just need to be patient. Mourvèdre is a slow ripening grape, so warmer climates serve it well, and it achieves greatness in Bandol. So, hoping to see equal quality in this Paso Robles one.
