August 7, 2022 - Deep ruby color. Medium aromas of blackberry, plum, and dried herbs. Medium acidity and tannins. Medium to high alcohol. Full bodied. Medium flavor intensity of blackberry, plum, chocolate or coffee, and tobacco. Medium to long finish. Consistently, a very nice wine, especially for the price.

July 4, 2022 - This (B-73477L-1741695-1810) is another nice bottle od Siete and of the '16 in particular. at nearly age six, it is entering the drinking window I like for this wine, and it should drink well for many years to come. As always, this is very fruit forward, with plenty of extraction, and is more about body and flavor than about aromatics. It is a big wine, a bit rough, and a great QPR for lovers of Napa and Bordeaux.

August 27, 2021 - I’ve been fortunate enough to have every vintage of Clos de los Siete, and it continues to deliver a lot of (good) wine for the price for those looking for extracted, Bordeaux/California style wines. That said, this 2016 (B-72567, L-104-291118-T56) seems better to me than many recent vintages, because it seems more balanced and fresher, even at age 5, while maintaining all the best characteristics of the wine. Decanted one hour and served over two nights. I would expect this to drink well through 2027. Very good QPR.

May 5, 2021 - Popped and poured. Aromas of black cherry, toasted oak, loamy earth and cocoa powder. Black fruit, toasted oak, chocolate and vanilla on the palate. Finishes with good persistence. Full bodied. Served with pork chops.
