Community Tasting Notes 4

September 19, 2018 - Lyche (like Gewurzstraminer), Peach, Flowers, hops, apple cider, spring vegetables, and zippy lemon with lots of minerals on the finish. Very pretty. Much better with an hour of air and closer to room temperature. Ok with scallops, not great with spicey food, but a great match with asparagus and pea farro salad and chayote salad (so, best with spring and summer vegetables). This also tended to be better as a sipper without food than with the food. I’d be interested in trying more of this kind of wine with vegetable salads. Great for the price.

April 11, 2018 - Somewhat fat and quite expressive nose with notes of grilled lemon, earl grey, apple cider, dried flowers, hops and herbs. Notably well balanced taste with pretty intense flavours, ample body and impeccable freshness at below-medium alcohol. Did a great job with linguine and a plain/simple sugo di pomodori, onions, salsiccia, and capers. Very nice wine. Nothing to wait for, really.

February 3, 2018 - Floral and clean with mixed citrus fruits, grapefruit rind, wet stones and a lean creaminess (old barrigue so no oakiness though). The skin contact features are very subtle and barely noticeable. The wine is dry.

November 10, 2017 - The nose offers several intriguing notes of baked citrus (lemon, orange, grapefruit), plus hops, herbs and tea. On the palate just about medium-everything, but flavourwise fairly intense - underpinned by a distinct saltiness - with an apetizing grapefruit-bitter finish on the skin-toned phenolics. Food for thought, as well as a very apt food wine.
