May 14, 2022 - Double decanted 1 hour before dinner and drunk over the next 4 hours. Fully developed. Garnet colour, dusty earthy nose. Well balanced, yet very dry on the front. Fine grained tannins and soft yet ripe fruit that follows thru to a long finish. Its not an easily recognised Aussie wine, and certainly doesnt scream Penfold's at this stage. very nice wine. Drink it up as the future is limited.
May 8, 2021 - Wine of the night at a Penfolds Dinner. This is in a great place. It’s fruit driven with an intoxicating palate and layers of berry fruit. It’s still young but enjoy it now rather than taking the chance with longer aging.
May 9, 2020 - Delicious!
April 6, 2020 - Wonderful, aged, St Henri. Good fruit flavours with earthy, leathery notes starting to come in to the equation. Long and powerful through the mouth, but not cloying in any way.
February 11, 2018 - double decanted for 2 hours. Still fairly tight. Soft tannins, quite dry yet well balanced. Typical claret style from that Penfolds era. Excellent wine drinking within its peak window. Should hold for several more years
January 16, 2018 - 1987 Vintage drink now
March 13, 2015 - Wonderful St Henri, with the fruit still showing strongly and giving great flavours in the glass (and mouth).
September 26, 2014 - Took to Vintage for killer bar. If not WOTN, then a close second. Wow, 24 years old and still vibrant. Decanted for an hour and over the next 2 the fruit just kept coming on. Tannins had mellowed. After 2 hours though several folks noticed that it was becoming astringent again.
May 11, 2013 - Taken to Bob's memorial tasting at Vintage. Truly a wine, Bob would drink. Just beautiful fruit and tannin integration. Still lovely and opens up over an hour or so.
May 4, 2010 - Penfolds : Rewards of Patience: Sweeter fruits, more simplistic with menthol lifted rounded currant fruits. Clean fun smooth fruit flavours sliding down the throat.
