September 29, 2023 - good fruit and cedar notes, but not as powerful as I had hoped for. Pleasant, but not special.
November 22, 2020 - Uniquement un goût d'alcool et d'astringeance. Défectueuse ?
November 14, 2020 - Earthy and assertive. Solid tannins and cherry notes.
October 4, 2018 - Cherry fruit balanced with smoke and licorice notes, plus a good backbone of tannins (but not too much) gives this Tempranillo an great balance.
May 4, 2018 - First bottle of 3. Not rating this bottle. Hoping it's just too young. The acidity in this bottle simply overwhelmed everything else. Never experienced such high acidity in any type of Tempranillo wine. The fruit is certainly driven home by the acidity and the tannins are certainly there, but everything is disjointed. Aired the bottle for at least an hour and drank half the bottle over a 3 hour period. Acidity remained dominant, fruit remained primary. The tannins, which I had hoped would come to the forefront, actually subsided. I had poured the remaining half of the bottle in a 375 ml screwtop bottle, with high hopes for a positive change. Tried half bottle 2 days later. It was still overly acidic and disjointed. Maybe with time this wine will come together and come close to the WS 92 rating. Perhaps this bottle was just off. But I know I won't be trying either of my remaining 2 bottles anytime soon.
March 26, 2018 - Robust wine with personality and a backbone of tannins that balance the fruit. There is earthiness and smokiness to give it character.
March 8, 2018 - Dark colour. Nose of dark cherries and liquorice. On the palate medoum tannins with dark red fruits, cherries, licorice, cola, tobacco notes. Medium finish. Well balanced. Drinking nicely now but will improve in the next couple of years. Organic grapes.
November 14, 2017 - Dark, opaque garnet in color, this wine reveals wild cherry, smoke and tar on the nose. The mouth feel brings firm but approachable tannins, cherry compote, saddle and a gamey, iron element. The finish is medium in length and brings the red fruits, acidity and mineral undertones together in a pleasant fashion. 14.5% abv.
Purchased for $15US, this is a pleasant, easy drinking offering with no hard edges. The higher abv is kept in the background. The gamey undertones knocked my score down several points.
Imported by Monsieur Touton, New York, NY.
October 29, 2017 - Just a taste off a just opened bottle. Nice leather and chewing tobacco nose. Cherries and tobacco flavors with an off putting menthol on the back end. It may blow off with some air and get much better, but I still don't see the WS 92 rating.
