January 17, 2021 - Garnet fading to ruby/rose at rim. Medium legs. Aromas of red fruits first: cherry, strawberry, faint raspberry. Hints of baking spices, honey. Flavors are similar. Fruit tannins clearly there. By Day 2, most of the flavors and aromas had faded significantly. Although Day 2 added a whiff of horseradish, the first I've detected in PN. On subsequent days, continued fading but fortunately some acid & a bit of cherry persisted, which was a plus. Medium body, flat evolving to flabby. Medium finish for Days 1 & 2, medium minus thereafter. Impression: not quite varietally correct. So understated that complexity is lacking. $20 purchased at tasting room; QPR well below average. A learning experience. Maybe this is the New Mexico terroir? Drink now.

March 8, 2018 - Gave this another try, enjoyed it a bit more, likely in part because we used better pinot glasses this time. Still quite simple, and a little clumsy in its jump from a sweet blackberry start to a remarkably tart sour cherry finish, but there's definitely some craft here. Good with salmon. Could use a year or two to rest.

January 17, 2018 - Opened 30 minutes before tasting. Young and grapey in color. Fairly simple nose of red cherry and licorice extends to the palate. A small bit of structure totally overpowered by over-the-top acidity. Short finish, nearly no tannins. Another disappointing vintage, not sure what's going on here...different winemaker vs. my own changing palate vs. bad series of years vs. a conscious choice to go down market, but this isn't the exceptional wine I remember from the late 00s.
