    September 9, 2023 - Still needs time

  • Eric Guido Likes this wine:

April 20, 2022 - The bouquet on the Ribera del Duero Reserva evokes images of hammering a chisel into a smolder lava rock, with sparks and flinty smoke, yet beneath there are depths of savory herbs, black cherries and cloves. It's silky in texture with minerality front and center, contrasted by ripe red berries and zesty acids that maintain a lovely energetic feel. There are still plenty of tannins to contend with, yet they're round and sweet, presenting a structured but still pleasurable finale, as violet florals, lavender, licorice and liquid rock slowly taper off. There are many years of positive evolution in store here.

March 17, 2022 - 93 and rising. Even so I liked the Matallana 2014 better on the evening, 24 hours later it became clear that this wine has the longer and more glorious future. Dense, concentrated, dark, it really gives you a lot to think and taste. Chocolate, real dark cherry, iodine, a hint of wet bark tree all united under a stony core of minerality.

September 15, 2021 - My second bottle from vintage 2014, and this wine is only getting better and better. 90% Tempranillo, with a few small splashes of Bobal, Albillo and Garnacha. Wonderful blend, full bodied, nice oak, wonderful to drink now but will hold for many years to come.

May 28, 2021 - Immer noch viel zu jung, füllig, es fehlen zur Zeit noch etwas die Sekundäraromen und Komplexität
