September 10, 2023 - Excellent. Deep ruby red. Explosive fruit. Could have used 2-3 hour decant. Big fruit, equally big tannin. Robust berry essence. Great nose, first taste and drinking good. Could go at least 5, possibly more.

October 20, 2021 - A flawless example of a Napa Cabernet. Perfectly rounded with a short, clean finish. Nose of black cherry and blueberry. Flavor is balanced. Well done. Beats any Napa cab around 2013.

May 9, 2021 - Lots of blue mountain fruit. Moderate tannins are starting to soften. Drinking very well but can go longer.

June 26, 2020 - Battle of the 2013 Anthems - Veeder vs LPV

Bought bought bottles of WTSO a few years back and felt this weekend was the time to test them out. Let's get this out of the way first - Both bottles are winners. Drinkable now with a few hour decant, or age-worthy down the road.

Both decanted for ~3 hours before tasting. The nose on both were incredible upon popping the bottles, but both are in a beautiful place right now.

LPV - I get a lot of the same LPV characteristics I've grown accustomed to: chocolate, a bit of blueberry, some minerality, wet gravel, stones. More dark purple than the Veeder. Oak has calmed down, has become more velvety - mouth coating is the word I would use. 94, with room to grow.

Veeder - More of a burnt caramel finish, this one was more readily accessible and just jumped out at the glass at me. More red fruit than LPV, more spice. Made me want to explore more Veeder wines. 95

I have both these bottles for day 2 tomorrow and will edit the note as necessary. The Veeder won tonight by a hair based on how it jumped out in the glass with that whiff of burnt caramel which was sublime. Both worthy QPR @ $60 from WTSO.

August 18, 2019 - Very deep, opaque purple. Clean nose of medium plus intensity. Aromas of bramble, stewed fruit, wet stone, tar, earth, liquorice. Developing. Dry, medium plus acidity medium plus tannins, high alcohol, full body, pronounced flavor intensity of preserved fruit, tar, bitter chocolate, and leather. Finish is medium. Good wine. Drink now or age further

May 9, 2019 - Gave this about 30 min decant then drank over the next 2 1/2 hours and it keep getting better and better. Nice nose of red fruits and spice. Fairly complex, a nice mouthfeel with some dusty tannins and decent finish. Red fruits, some licorice and spice. A very nice wine that is drinking well and should become even better with a few more years in the bottle. Going to order another bottle! Not that it has any bering on the actual wine but the bottle is beautiful.

March 14, 2019 - Tannins Smoothed our by day 3 and I really enjoyed this wine with and without food. Still not quite as good as the LPV of the same label.
