January 7, 2023 - Sammamish Port Club - January 2023 (Sammamish, Washington): This Port style is reminiscent of the Ports made in the 1940s for troops in tropical climates where quinine was added to the Port to ward off malaria. It has a nose of vanilla and Dipstick stick (similar to confectioners’ sugar). This is a unique wine that has been engineered to be drinkable. Touch of vanilla and vinho liquoroso on the palate. This is a sweet wine - not like the old barrels of 1940s Quinado at Anderson lodge, but more of a commercial version of those wines.

September 23, 2019 - 2019 FTLOP Harvest Tour; 9/19/2019-9/28/2019 (Portugal): This wine was made over 40 years ago and is a special kind of rare Port wine to which quinine has been added. It has been aged in a wooden barrel since then. It was bottled from cask for our tasting. 40 years ago, it was a ruby Port It was infused with herbs, quinine, and vanilla and then aged. Orange-brown in color. Vanilla, Caramel, and some light oak notes on the nose. Buttery caramel, vanilla bean, and hints of orangesicle on the palate. Bright acidity but well-rounded finish.

The wine is simply packed with vanilla and burnt caramel. It is very sweet and expected to be very old but nobody knows, as the original details and recipe are lost.

September 19, 2016 - 2016 Port Harvest Tour; 9/18/2016-9/25/2016 (Portugal): Over 30 Year Old. Vanilla nougat on the nose. Extremely intense mouthfeel with a vanilla bean. Bright acidity on the palate, and long, unctuous finish.
