September 9, 2018 - Phredd's notes are right on, especially since we shared the same bottle. Nice complexity and very enjoyable.

July 21, 2018 - A little orange on the dim, but otherwise opaque, the nose on this is all saddle soap and leather. Maybe a slight touch of black cherry hides in the ba kground. On the palate this wine is full and tannic. Great, full spices, there is quite a bit of heat, with muted but delicious cherry and blackberry. Plenty of acidic lift with a finsh that goes on and on with great balance. I really like this wine. Rick says, "Almost like sassafras." He is not wrong. An incredible pairing with the braised short ribs.

December 4, 2017 - Not sure how to rate this one. C: Brown, almost tawny Port like in color. N: Aged balsamic, baked plums and prune. P: More of the same, with an awkward palate on Day 1 that I couldn't tell if was OTH or just well aged. Perfect cork, with no running and like new shape. F: Long and Port like, with more dried fruit and a cedar, dusty cellar component. While it didn't seem completely oxidized, this is very much along in its life cycle. I prefer fresher wines, so while I think it was interesting, not my cup of tea.

April 5, 2014 - Really great. Lots of cherry/plum without being overwhelming on the fruit. Kind or bricky color.

March 21, 2013 - Bigger, darker style BdM. Decanted 1 hour, but still somewhat disjointed until 3rd hour when it came into balance and showed nice fruits, spice, terroir. #2 wine of Third Thursday Group behind an '04 Caprilli.

March 5, 2013 - This bottle seemed a little off. Dark garnet color. Muted aromas of musty dark fruit. Integrated dark fruit, leather, and earth with striking acidity. Medium body with minimal finish.
