June 5, 2019 - Needs a few hours decant. Delicious chocolately, rich fruit. Asian spices. Smooth and deep. Excellent! Vranac... I would never have hoped a few years ago.

May 5, 2019 - Started tannic and aggressive on opening. Softened within 20 minutes though. This is excellent Vranac: dark, hedgerow-fruited. Floral aspects to the bouquet. Round and generous without being at all new-world in that fruit. Good tannins and acids. Drink or hold. Recommended.

November 25, 2017 - I have been trying Dalmatian Vranac for many years. The progress is upwards each time I think, as winemakers learn how to extract the best from this variety. Though much is still basic table wine, and styles vary from juicy acidic fruit to oak monsters.
This one..... Black as night. A smashing bouquet of dark fruit and smoke, deep and luscious. Sweet spices. I smiled. Fabulous palate of sweet fruit, smoke, spice and bacon. Blueberry compote with mulberry and damson. Hint of brett (?) but I quite like that in this kind of context. Long and comforting finish. All maintaining a decent freshness behind the ripe deliciousness. By some way the best Vranac I have ever tasted. Who'd have thought it could produce something so good? Note this is the barrique version, with a somewhat fancy bottle, not the standard bottling. It's excellent. 92-93
