January 27, 2012 - Not good.
February 15, 2011 - Passable, fruity, not much finish but nice companion for a steak - may stretch its legs w/ a few more years but a nice inexpensive bordeaux from a good vintage...
February 7, 2011 - Impressive- at it's prime now.
January 19, 2011 - This was very good. Lots of red fruit on the front end, huge middle and long finish. Nice wine.
February 25, 2010 - Very light and delicate, almost watery. No complexity and very short finish
February 5, 2010 - Great QPR. Others apparently have less appreciation for this bottle, but I found it both smooth and elegant, not to mention extremely tasty (dark berries) and perfect with French garlic sausage. Will look for this by the case.
October 15, 2009 - Cherries on the nose... tons of tannins
November 27, 2008 - OK wine, we enjoyed it. but not outstanding.
November 12, 2008 - Initially had a lot of potential. Very good dark fruit and cherries on the nose and palate, but LOTS of tannin. Quite dense, good mouthfeel, good acid. At this point I would have said 87-88. I expected that it would be really nice once the tannins softened, so I decanted for a few hours, but the wine fell apart. The fruit disappeared, the acid and tannins were way out of balance, and the wine almost felt gritty. I ended up dumping the last third of the bottle. I bumped the rating down a bit because of this, but I still think it's worth popping and pouring as long as you have it with something that can hold up to the tannins.
March 27, 2008 - Tasted after Reislings at a wine tasting event. The bottle was opened and poured without decanting. The nose was a beautiful bowl of black fruit, very aeromatic. Although fruit notes were evident on the pallatte they were masked by overpowering, drying tannins. There were nice acids and no heat on the lingering finish. This wine seems to have enough structure to improve, and should come into balance within a few years. Drink starting in 2010.
It struck me as a great value for the $$.
