June 11, 2022 - Walks the tightrope between effusive and elegant. Gorgeous red fruit and some spice. Long on the palate. Deepens with air. Sad this was my last bottle.

January 22, 2022 - Really spectacular on night one, especially after an hour in the decanter. An explosion of berries on the nose. Smooth and elegant on the palate. Less effusive on night 2.

December 9, 2021 - Holy hell, this is fantastic now five years in - probably the most "developed" D&R I've had over the years. Note below is still spot on, but this has taken on some additional weight and depth, the nose is just stunning, the wine velvety smooth and long enduring.

June 12, 2020 - A solid bottle, has picked up a lot of weight since the last good bottle I had. Doesn't come off as particularly light anymore (even after starting with a big zin). Needs a half hour to get some reduction off.

March 21, 2020 - Opened for the Dirty & Rowdy virtual tasting of Shake Ridge Ranch Mourvèdre, as I did not yet receive my 2018. So glad I opened this, as it was absolutely smoking! Open for business without a decant, it immediately conjured up warm, dusty earth, as if I was walking the vineyard in August. Then the sunshiney red fruit, with all its California sweetness came in, along with brushy herbs, rose, menthol and nutmeg spice. The fruit led the palate, and almost seemed sweet, but then the acidity kicked in, and the earth and herbal elements joined on the mid-palate. Amazing how much flavor was packed into such a light bodied wine. It was like a lightweight fighter who could knock you on your ass with one punch. Gorgeous wine.
