February 21, 2023 - Knights of Alba (KOA) BYO Barbaresco Dinner (Legacy Records): Finishing out with a lot of produttori. This was probably the most backwards of all of the bottles. The most reticent to share much. It’s fine, but not as expressive as the others. Very interesting to try next to the classic blended Barbaresco which was really in a nice spot.

July 20, 2022 - Part of an Italian wine dinner. Writing from memory.

Just wow. Absolutely beautiful Barbaresco. Well integrated, lots of pretty fruit that is just starting to show age, and just seamless on the palate. I don't drink enough Nebbiolo to comment meaningfully, but this wine has changed that for me.

Drinking very well now with a decant but this can go the distance.

November 21, 2020 - This Pora has improved out of sight from the previous bottle I had 2.5 years ago when it was a bit dull and blocky. Lovely lifted rose centred nose, quite red fruited still and very complex. Palate is mid weight but quite powerful with lots of red spicy fruit but still covered with some firm but ripe tannins. The structure will ensure this can only improve over the next 5-10 years but a lovely barbaresco.

October 12, 2020 - Takeout dinner at home, Mill Valley, CA. From 750ml purchased on release. Decanted 1hr prior to serving.

I was a bit apprehensive not having opened this wine well in advance, given my other ‘96 experiences. But this wine was accessible from first pour after a short decant. And what a beautiful wine it is. Pure, floral and harmonious, with ample fruit lifted by the tannic core. Most ‘96s need more time for my palette, but this was ready and superb.
