August 6, 2023 - From magnum in my cellar since release. Decanted 2 hours+ before dinner with grilled steaks and elk tenderloin. Spectacular pairing. The wine is a dense dark garnet. Distinct oak notes are mostly integrated with a fleshy texture and deep, complex layers of florals, black cherry, earthy soil notes, and a rich finish. Big but very well balanced. Nice acidity yet fruity and layered. Gorgeous with the elk.

May 1, 2022 - Gorgeous wine, at peak or slightly on the decline. Clearly Brunello. Tannins beautifully integrated. Big nose, cashmere-textured palate, sottobosco, truffle, damson, sandalwood, figs, dried cherries, prunes, and starting to show a touch of soy. I don't see this improving. Drink over the next couple years. Very nice!

December 28, 2021 - Tremendous at age 20. Loads of truffle and secondary flavors. Wonderful wine that demonstrates the benefits of aging great Brunello for its second act.

August 15, 2021 - "Forgotten" in the cellar for some time, but excavated when someone offered lamb chops from the first batch of animals from their farm. Deep grenade with an almost black core. Beautiful nose (opened just an hour before serving) dominated first by dark cherries, but the fun starts: vanilla and licorice, some mint, lots of tobacco, then some leather and dark chocolate. Sweet and full bodied attack (I have never tasted a wine with a similar sweet fruit attack without having lots of residual sugar, this wine is bone dry), lots of dark cherry, dark chocolate. chewing tobacco, mint, and a tone of exotic wood (cedar?). Smooth, but very present tannins, very good acidity, very good combination of sweetness, dryness and freshness in a long aftertaste dominated by dark cherries, tobacco and mint. What a wine! Not on the elegant side, but that is not what you expect from a Brunello, do you? Perfect to drink now, but this will keep for eternity. I have to look deeper in the cellar, maybe there is another bottle.
