August 8, 2020 - The colour is starting to turn gold with early maturity, the nose has white flowers, honeysuckle and nectarine.the palate has ripe orchard fruits cut through the middle with mouthwatering fresh lemon acidity, there’s a chalky mineral side to this wine that balances the fruit nicely, the finish is pleasantly long and satisfying.

Delicious fresh, delicate, acidity driven, chalky, herbal, reminds me to a lean riesling. Precise finish. At least 5 more years. 92+

March 16, 2019 - I am trying to educate myself a little on Portuguese wines (after a beautiful trip to Lisbon last year and before a trip to Porto this year) and one of the regions that has caught my attention is Bairrada. In the best examples wines of minerality, freshness, elegance and longevity that are right up my alley. Filipa Pato is one of the top producers from this fascinating region and this is her top white wine, made from 100% Bical, an indigenous grape from the Bairrada region.

Medium golden color. Fascinating and flowery notes of linden blossoms, some white flowers, honey, chalky minerality and also a touch of citrus, steel and quite some flintstone and crushed rocks. It's medium-full bodied, with very good mid-palate persistence and medium+/medium-high acidity that is well covered by the textural richness but is sneaking up on you. Long finish with saline mineral notes. This is the opposite of a fruit bomb kind of wine, more mineral driven, tense, with fascinating textural richness without being heavy. Excellent, also very good QPR and this will probably age well, too. (93+)
