October 30, 2023 - No formal notes, but the wife and I loved this and paired with braised short ribs
July 2, 2023 - Excellent! The second one this year. Like a Chateauneuf - good structure -- this will last a while.
February 12, 2023 - Fantastic. Smoked meats, pipe tobacco, currants, dark chocolate, bloods orange, and a finish that lasts forever.
January 2, 2023 - serious wine -- amazing howe much structure there is. Pepper and spice, dark fruit, definitely northern Rhone in style. We look forward to seeing how our other bottles evolve.
December 30, 2022 - P&P, but notes from day 2. Flavors of blackberry, black pepper, tobacco and a long finish of chocolate and coffee. Creamy texture, with light tannins and medium acidity. Drinks like a young wine still. Kind of bummed this is my last bottle, because I think this is still on the upside of its evolution. My initial thoughts on this were around 15 years, but I think this is a 20 year wine--at least. Drink now - 2034+.
October 20, 2022 - Much better showing than last year. No decant, blackberry fruit, pepper, creamy texture, floral. Very clean and nice.
September 28, 2022 - Reminds me of a nicely aged CDP, inasmuch as it’s quite soft and supple on the palate with pretty burnished fruit and ends with earthy notes. Would have scored higher but for a touch of stemmy tannins in the finish. That aspect is minimal but does linger, and likely accounts for some of the reviews. Gotta love Bedrock because these wines are always well made and express the vineyard.
August 22, 2022 - A solid old-vine syrah, right now still very primary and fruit forward. But didn't come off as special and didn't have as much of the rustic, old-world quality I love about many Bedrock wines.
May 31, 2022 - Upon opening, no formal note taken - 1/3rd of bottle consumed, red fruit and black pepper dominated, vacuvined and refrigerated for 3 days. Note written from day 4, Appearance: Clear, medium ruby - little to no bricking - very youthful yet. Nose: Clean, medium+ intensity with developing aromas of deep dark fruit - cassis, blackberry, and black plum; licorice, tobacco, black pepper, and violets - this has evolved greatly in 4 days to an even more interesting spot. Palate: Dry, medium+ acid, medium tannin, medium+ body, medium+ intensity, 14.8% abv is masked well with flavors of cassis, blackberry, black pepper, and tobacco with a long finish. Overall an outstanding wine still evolving excelling in all areas. Can drink now, better in 2-4 years.
December 23, 2021 - Stone fruit--plum, apricot. Then, lots of earthiness. A suggestion of licoice. Very noticeable drying tannin. Interestingly, a raisony thing under the rear palate.
