September 10, 2020 - Extremely smooth and very settled. I was the only one who tasted more alcohol on the 2002 compared to the 2007, but it was not disruptive. Dark berries provided a real treat.

    July 26, 2019 - Color: deep ruby
    Nose: casis, red fruit,
Taste: leather, cigar, aniseed, red fruit
This is lovely - firing on all cylinders a lovely velvet taste, with red fruit and leather, tobacco, anise and a nice lingering finish

May 1, 2019 - Sourced from Winebid. Celebrated my brother's birthday in style and there was nothing but smiles around the table at first sip. The gorgeous black and red fruit was layered without a hard edge. There is distinguishable olive note that everyone found. I wished I could've studied this wine slowly all night. However, the glass we each had went quickly. I'm hoping the 2015 Kayli Morgan will be similar or even better in another 13 years.

February 2, 2019 - Full body with a long finish without a ‘bite’ or tannin. Incredibly smooth, truly enjoyed the experience.

July 10, 2015 - Just stunning right now. We opened and poured (no decant - in retrospect perhaps should have as the wine was still opening up as we were finishing it). Still, pretty approachable from the start. Very dark and dense and just classic HA. Beautiful pairing with steak.

June 7, 2015 - Very underwhelming for the price. On this night, didn't hold a candle to Scarecrow or Schrader. The alcohol is very present and dominating at the moment. Didn't seem over the hill for the vintage, but was just not as good as I would have hoped for a 100pt wine with 13 years of age.

February 4, 2015 - flavor enhanced wine was my impression upon really getting into it. initial taste was wow, this is really interesting. then as i got further into it could detect adulteration/enhancements, flavored wine was more my inclination.

for such a young wine to have all that caramel and butterscotch within the fruit was rather shocking. brown rim, way more so than it should be for its pedigree and age - leads me to think the wine has been adjusted from my viewpoint.

i see what they are trying to do here. but is not authentic from my pallet. trying to mimic classic aged Bordeaux but ....no. the more i drank this the more i could detect the games. no minerality. but hey, a hint of burnt butterscotch and caramel (!). huh?? disneyland. can see where some would love this, as others did that night, but if you are seeking an authentic experience without manipulation, this isn't it. if the laws were reflective of wine processing i would be very curious to see what the new label would include for ingredients and processing as i clearly detect some additions in the barrel which detract from the terroir (wood chips, oak, cotton candy flavor).

if a wine maker chooses to do this, up to them, but it should be disclosed on the label as this was manipulated.

September 17, 2014 - Chicago: wine, food, friends...cigars!; 9/17/2014-9/20/2014 (Blackbird, Les Nomades, Naha, with lunch at Shaw's Crab House): Dense, but equally well-lifted, which makes for a textural pleasure palace of sorts. Fine tannins, resolved EtOH, and deeply (dark/black) fruited; manages to keep from getting too high-toned and anonymous. Delicious, and, while not in my wheelhouse, well composed and undeniably pure. Serious length. Toward the end of its secondary development; 5-7 more very good years ahead, at least.

Aerated to decanter 90 minutes, served non-blind. Would advise to Audoze all day.
