July 16, 2019 - Pinot in the City (Chicago, IL): Walk-around tasting, brief note. Late summer flowers with ripe black and red cherry aromas. Bigger and more concentrated vs Ceras with meatier character. Structure and sheer density keep this wonderfully balanced and nearly elegant in spite of the wine's heft. Very good now with upside.

May 18, 2019 - Opened and decanted for 2 hours.

A darker Pinot with good clarity. The nose is giving up red berry, some clove and oak imparted spice.

On the palate this vintage is spot on and drinking well and this young age. This is not a hold for 10 years wine but a few more years in the cellar will only improve this 2016 vintage.

Paired with rosemary stuffed pork tenderloin and it was perfect. The balanced acids and alcohol met the pork and Rosemary filling with balance and flavor explosion!

April 30, 2019 - Previously tasted just over four months ago and the wine has improved in that time. Much bigger nose than the Ceras, showing all blackfruit, especially black cherry and black raspberry along with some light vanilla and floral notes. Medium bodied, perhaps just a touch more with black cherry and black raspberry upfront. Mid-body is stellar with additional depth and adding plum and blackberry. Notes of tart red cherry, light spices and fine grained tannins show on the backside and the finish has lots of mineral and floral qualities. The balance between fruit and structure (especially through the middle) was the highpoint of this wine. It was handled so well that the fruit came off showing density, but feeling almost lithe which allowed all the nuances to show through. The spice and tannin notes were considerably more in balance than they were just six months ago. I may open the first of my own bottles in June/July 2020.

April 2, 2019 - An incredible PN. On the palette the wine is spiced, rich and fresh. Flavors of crushed berry and bell pepper and some chives. The wine is totally balanced and rich. I Keep coming back to botanical. Wow .... find some.
