November 12, 2014 - Still tons of structure to keep it holding together for many more years to come. Big and bold for a Pinot while still remaining elegant with quite a long and pleasant finish. Quite an effort. Hirsch continues to be one of my all time favorite California Pinot Noirs.

December 21, 2013 - Lovely deep red fruits on the nose; palate not as complex as what I expected (weak finish) but well made and quite enjoyable.

August 24, 2013 - I really enjoyed this wine. The minerality worked very well with the fruit and gained more fruit as the night progressed. The high level of acidity made it a great food wine. It seemed to me to be at its peak.

November 2, 2012 - This was a real disappointment. A good example of why many don't believe Cali Pinot can age with the grace and complexity of wines from other regions. Good color and a classic Sonoma coast nose of deep black cherry fruit. However, in the mouth the wine was falling apart. The great purity and balance of a bottle four years ago was replaced with a short, bitter mess. Oh well. (79)

February 9, 2010 - Popped and poured through a Vinturi. Nose a little restrained with some darker fruit coming through. On the palate, quite austere with little fruit showing up at all. Fruit would have helped balance the acidity somewhat which was still going strong.
