May 7, 2019 - Still good, need time but started to evolve.
Not a wine to be kept.

February 27, 2019 - A picture of Chianti classicism. Lovely, dusty nose of dried cherries, old leather, violets, and tobacco. More dusty red fruit and cracked pepper flavors and juicy acidity and fine tannins on the finish. A fabulous QPR that belongs on the dinner table. Great stuff.

February 27, 2019 - Well made Chianti with the traditional style. Decant well or let it sleep for a few years. Steal at 13€.

  • Coffee and Pie Likes this wine:

November 17, 2018 - Flower day, 13.5% abv, short cork, over 2 days.

Tannins are a little wild. Perhaps a year or two would tame it down a little.

Primarily dark red fruits, good ripeness, healthy acidity. Medium to heavy body.
Oak is well integrated with a bit of spices which makes it interesting.

A good Chianti Classico, perhaps made to be had with food.

September 10, 2018 - Medium-deep ruby red in color. Full, fragrant & attractive nose of ripe fruit aromas of red cherries, plums & strawberries with overtones of earthy/dusty & floral notes of violets, herbs, spices, cocoa/coffee, anise & a hint of minerals. Medium bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of sour red cherries, plums & strawberries with dried herbs, earthy, spices, cocoa & minerals. Lingering finish. Surprisingly quite accessible at present with decanting and extended airing but has the structure & fruit to continue with further development with additional aging at which time it may rate even higher. An excellent Chianti Classico & cannot wait to try the 2016 Riserva, Vigna Il Poggiale.
