April 19, 2024 - Now entering prime time, the ‘04 P2 is richly flavorful. More bread and yeast than the citrus of young DP - or even a P2 on release. Powerful acidity, great length, intense. Drink now for its energy or wait a bit longer for it to soften up and become more complex.

April 16, 2024 - Heidi's Crew at St Geneive Minneapolis "quarterly". CV,KB,LI,SS,CS&DD. Tonight was outstanding & so much so, the group voted to meet monthly going fwd. StG's menu tonight screamed Burgundy so that didn't hurt. Candace's btl flighted with my stellar '12 Taittinger Comte. Quite a challenging flight for a new release and yet my'12 Comte BdB rose to occasion w/ its signature surreal blend of, tamed energy, complex & pristine fruit, mineral and intensity. Still Candace's Dom won out w/ its overall undeniable sense of harmony and "how do they do it" supple classiness. Elixir for the Gods & when the stars align, mere mortals like me. Lucky to be drinking a glass of both wines tonight. Especially, the '02 P2! 97+

April 16, 2024 - Heidi's Group: Oh My! (St. Genevieve, Mpls, MN): Light plus golden color. Drank a glass over an hour plus. My first experience with the '02 P2, but the regular '02 has been a long time favorite. So it was fun to finally get a chance to try this before my bottles arrive. Explosive and ultrafine bubbles and mousse, meet you from the start and signal the sublime elegance that is to come. Wow, simply beautiful and showing the class and complexity of the extended time on the lees. Caramel, flan, creamy and subtle, pastry crust, pear and mirabelle plum; long and contemplative, almond tart, fine lemon, brioche, toasty, stony minerality, texturally grand! This was a revelation tonight, though not so unexpected. I look forward to drinking this side by side with the '04 P2 and watch the stars align. Blissfully good.

March 17, 2024 - Fabulous nose but palate didn’t keep up. Perhaps it was because I traveled it. Will revisit with the last bottle

March 8, 2024 - Initial PnP, it seemed too young, just very tight, nervy, and acidic. Really not showing much else besides the structure and acid, very lean with no tertiary or expressive primary notes. This needs air/time.

About a hour later, this has changed so much. Hints of the classic aged Dom Perignon notes sneak in with slight candied almond and butterscotch. Fruit has blossomed a bit more, but is no longer the front focus of the wine. This shows that this bottle still needs much more time to hit that point for my palate, especially with its immense structure. Waiting at least a year+ before opening another bottle. 95++

February 25, 2024 - Brilliant spot right now, a bit of age and just astonishingly vibrant and light.

February 11, 2024 - Wonderful expression of aged Champagne. Effervescent and full of life with lots of autolytic complexity. WOTN.

February 3, 2024 - The power of a story grows with every retelling (Restaurant Story, London): As always a focal point when this wine arrives.
We question if the bottle was pristine as the label was a bit scruffy and finitely had a bit of a tired feel that was not part of our recollection from the previous TNs we had ( Papies 95-96). Good evolution maybe surprised that it was more than we expected and blind we would have thought this was a bit older maybe from the 90s. Definitely carries the late disgorged feel, that richness of the extended maturation on lees, and is impressively elegant. Beautiful bottle for sure but small question mark here on the actual bottle. 94

January 25, 2024 - Drank vs Krug 2002...by comparison Dom is thin without much vintage chardonnay taste. Citrus but not much else. Detected a slight petrol taste, is this a flaw?
Highly effervescent and energetic which surely takes away from the more refined flavours??
TBH, would rather have the standard Dom than this and not even close to the Krug for elegance, stye, mouthfeel, etc
