February 26, 2024 - Champagne In My Backyard (My House): March 2018 disgorgement. 4.5 gms of dosage, roughly 50/50 Pinot Noir and Chard. Spicy, dense lemon, a delicious spicy quality with good length. There's pastry here too and the balance is really good. Enjoyed this.

February 25, 2024 - Something new & something familiar (FMIII backyard): 4.5g/L, 100% Chard. BdB, especially young & no dosé (or too much dosé) is not my jam. But I love Philipponat, had seen the Grand Blanc floating around, was curious, and essentially begged Cris to bring it to the tasting when he mentioned having it. This surpassed my expectations. 2008 with some age and bit of dosage was amazing – kind of like the goldilocks BdB. Probably my WOTN. The nose was prominent and intoxicating - fresh ripe yellow apple, a bit of white flower. Classic flavor profile, lemon, apple, maybe some lemon curd, perfectly balanced, nothing heavy about it. Crème pâtissière on the finish. Upon revisiting a bit later, what struck me was the concentration of flavor. While it can age longer, it’s perfect as it is to me.

My first time with this producer, and I was excited to try. Raw cookie dough on the Nose, but not sweet --- entirely different than the manner in which I used the “raw cookie dough” descriptor for the Bedel: this was lighter -- different kind of cookie, apparently. Rich and chalky on the palate with good acid. Neck-and-Neck with the ’08 Bollinger LGA for my WOTD, and definitely the wine that made the biggest impact on me at the tasting, likely partially owing to the fact that I came into this wine with no preconceived notions or expectations. Will definitely be buying this wine from this point forward.

February 25, 2024 - Double Fisted Champagne at Frank's: Checking Recent Buys AND Something Drinking Great Now (Frank Murray's Casa): I actually wanted to trade this out for something pricier for my contribution to the second half of the tasting but I had told Astrid at Falltacular I would bring so here it was. Loved the nose on this. Classic, rich, maturing BdB nose with that buttery apple and citrus mixture. Decadent on the palate too. The oak shows with more time in the glass. Classic Champagne opulence.

August 5, 2022 - Only made from the first press. Eigth years cellaring on bith steel and wood.

Beautiful bouquet w. caramel and old cheese. Wonderful gentil bubbles, light on the citrus, cream and steely acidity. Ready but perhaps not fully developed.

    Keep or drink
