August 22, 2022 - In a perfect spot with layers of complexity (slate, mature orchard fruit, sea breeze, spice) complemented by still-fresh fruit and zippy acidity. White WOTN.

May 2, 2020 - PNP into Zalto Burgundy glass (“Fruit” day): Medium golden to the eyes.

“Cool-breeze” sense of reduction notes upfront. This is more towards riper yellow and orchard fruits, hints of exotic fruits like pineapples that might come from the botrytis influence. Dash of white peppers. Some mushroom like notes that makes this all the more interesting.

This is a different profile from the 1997 Montée de Tonnerre tried just a while ago, this is arguably less structured and more ready to be consumed.

Still, 93-94 points for me easily.

1 hour upon opening, second pour, 4/5 left: Freshly baked bread and yeast. Butterscotch and hay. Very nice.

3 hours upon opening, 1/3 left: More complete on the palate now but a little bittersweet on the finish.

May 29, 2019 - Approaching maturity, creamy with notes of cheese, citronella and wet rock. Very distinctive, round and smooth now, soft edges. Great wine.

May 16, 2019 - A bit of honey and ripe fruit on the nose. Almost like botrytis. However, on the palate there is good acidity with some waxy round texture. Very full but not flabby. A wonderful wine to start the day.

March 20, 2019 - The 4th of 6. The bottle was just singing. Palate even more focused than my last bottle, with rich yellow fruits laced with hints of citrus. Modest acidity, less minerality and chalkiness than the 2000 or 2002. This bottle had a lanolin like texture, which I normally associate with Mersault not Chablis, which coated the fruit and offered a lush, silky, long finish. Certainly an opulent Chablis.

(François Raveneau Chablis 1er Cru Butteaux) Light golden yellow color; oyster shell, mineral, tart lemon nose with a touch of botrytis; tasty, tart citrus, tart lemon, mineral palate, a little broad for Raveneau; medium-plus finish 91+ points
