March 20, 2019 - The 4th of 6. The bottle was just singing. Palate even more focused than my last bottle, with rich yellow fruits laced with hints of citrus. Modest acidity, less minerality and chalkiness than the 2000 or 2002. This bottle had a lanolin like texture, which I normally associate with Mersault not Chablis, which coated the fruit and offered a lush, silky, long finish. Certainly an opulent Chablis.

February 3, 2019 - The bottle was in very good condition. Raveneau's distinctive herbs, honey, minerals, white flowers, and stony fruits, on the palate, acidity was crisp and lingering, mint, strong minerals, light Canadian honey, and modest spices. Long lingering finish.

October 12, 2018 - The third bottle we had this year, in good condition. Honey baked almond, citrus pie, good minerality yet with more fruits, on the palate, it has mix of stony and yellow citrus fruits, modest spices, and sea salt minerated orange peel . Butteaux is on left bank of Chablis, soil not as chalky underlying, leading to modest more richness in flavour.

October 8, 2018 - So far best bottle from an OWC - see mine, BurgNick and Mrs Bubble’s notes. The nose had oyster shell, squeezed citrus and sprinkled salt. The palate showed some serious generosity with 01 ripeness but not overdone, including mustard spice, more salt and quite gripping with a teasing finish and gentle acidity. It is not clear why there has been a bit of variation of the wines from the same case.

  • Ms. Bubblehead Likes this wine:

July 29, 2018 - It was more mature than the previous bottles we had, almost felt that it is at peak of its stage. On the nose, yellow fruits, chalky, sea salt, citrus jam, on the palate, acidity, saltiness, and generous tropical fruits came at the same time, quite deep and with good structure

(François Raveneau Chablis 1er Cru Butteaux) Light golden yellow color; oyster shell, mineral, tart lemon nose with a touch of botrytis; tasty, tart citrus, tart lemon, mineral palate, a little broad for Raveneau; medium-plus finish 91+ points
