December 17, 2023 - Leather, kirsch and some baking spices, nice acidity, but the wine seemed muted and a little backward. Will revisit in a couple of years as this 2016 Haute Pierre has structure for the long haul.

BYO at Great China in Berkeley, CA.

December 20, 2020 - Tasted blind, except I knew the wine would be paired with garlic and rosemary grilled lamb loin chops.

    Decanted for 1 hour.

Almost deep and almost purple in color.

    Medium intensity on the nose with liquorice/black pepper/coffee/cooked plum/stewed fruits/pine tar/jam.

    Acid M+/Tannin M+/Alcohol M/Body M/Intensity M+/Finish M+

I called the wine a Washington State Syrah as I could not envision a CDP being this high in acid and vibrant.

An excellent wine that is just starting to show.

August 24, 2019 - Hints of leather and allspice. Quite dry and a bit acidic. Displays characteristic Châteauneuf-du-Pape mineral terroir.

  • Atmosphere Likes this wine: 90 points

March 7, 2019 - Déjà bien ouvert, porté par un beau fruit. Bouche équilibré, pleine d’énergie, aucune sensation de lourdeur ou d’alcool. C’est très bien fait.
90 en l’état, certainement plus dans quelques années.

February 23, 2019 - Best Chateauneuf ever produced from Delas. This has volume, texture and depth of flavor, with all of its juicy, sweet, ripe, kirsch, underbrush, licorice and herbs. The lush, red fruit filled finish is a treat.
