October 31, 2021 - Not boozy or flabby, this bottle had good lift and excellent balance. Black raspberry, lots of garrigue, leather and licorice. Sometimes bottle variation works in your favor.
July 3, 2021 - I agree with CJ instead of Mootsie. This starts off really well with cut flowers, black raspberry, garrigue, some beef jerky and licorice and then some lovely rosewood, but then turns bitter and hot on the finish. Fine grained but chalky tannins, this is never the less boozy and a touch flabby. Probably better a couple of years ago, it might come back together with more leathery flavors in another 5 years, hard for me to predict. Another '16 Rhone that I wished I had tasted younger.
April 14, 2020 - Tannnnnic
May 15, 2019 - Stoney minerality with licorice, pepper, dark fruits and loads of tobacco. No heat or alcohol showing. Great QPR.
February 5, 2019 - Have liked this wine in the past, and, hey, here’s the much praised 2016! Some nice garrigue notes, but with some alcohol bite that ruins this for me. Lots of tannins here too. Will put the remaining bottles away and hope this improves.
December 3, 2018 - Licorice, tobacco, pepper, dark fruits. Drinks above it’s price point. Nice QPR.
