April 27, 2019 - Another lofty score for this one. Very very elegant and refined. Almost translucent in colour with a hint of amber on the rim. The balance is sensational for a wine from a lesser year. So many tertiary flavours - cherry blossom, red fruits, maybe even a hint of jasmine. The finish isn’t the longest, but it is beautifully delicate and simply stunning. Last bottle sadly. €40 from the domaine in 2007. Definitely one of my better buys.

October 2, 2016 - Crikey! Two bottles in the cellar and decided to give one a go. PnP. Stunning nose of violets and strawberry. So so moreish on the palate with such finesse. A great winemaker producing a beautiful wine in a so called lesser vintage. Wonderful stuff.

July 22, 2013 - A translucent wine with a cloudy dark brown core showing its age with a bright brick orange rim. Complex aromas of strawberries, cherries, licorice, roasted meats, damp earth, Indian spices, and a small dollop of creamy vanilla. The flavors are as intense as the nose showing tart strawberries, pomegranate, sour cherries, blackberries on the attack with notes of meat aux jous, licorice, intermingled with soy sauce on the mid-palate, and a nice continuation into the long lasting finish filled with oriental spices. A sappy textured mid-bodied wine that is elegant, with great fruit flavors, and intense acidity.

February 13, 2013 - I love the MM Echezeaux and Grands Echezeaux, but have never warmed to this vintage. Thankfully, this is my last bottle. I regret not auctioning it, as some people clearly love it. I'll rate it "flawed", but it might simply be bad. A shrill shell of a GC with funky green notes, not corked but not good. Another apology to the kitchen sink as down the drain it goes.

April 2, 2012 - What a great wine. When I first opened it, it was slightly cloudy, and seemed a bit dumb. An hour or two of aggressive air opened it up, though, and it was such a pleasure to drink. Sappy red strawberry and cherry fruit loaded with earth, tree bark, and moss. Tiny little licorice note. Amazing, silky mid-palate and lovely finish. This was one of those wines that just drank fantastic. And it was a wonderful companion to a brined and roasted chicken I made. I have one more, and I'm already itching to open it.

September 14, 2011 - An interesting sight, the wine is cloudy which is not typical for Pinot Noir, but nonetheless nice dark brown color with an orange rim. The nose is enticing and alluring with huge amounts of earthy aromas followed by oriental hoison sauce, red fruit reduction, smoked duck meat, cloves, cinnamon, a plethora of spices, and a touch of vanilla on the end. The flavors are as intense as the nose, with tart red fruits on the attack, meat aux jous intermingled with oriental spices on the mid-palate, and a nice continuation into the finish with a touch of citric flavor. Phenomenal aromas, flavors, and texture, this wine simply knocked my socks off, definitely the wine of the night.

September 22, 2010 - Fresh black cherry and pomegranate fruit accented by high toned herbal and spicy flavours. It's a little tight at first aromatically, but opens up with time and becomes very pretty and elegant with air. Very pleasant to drink now, with a very finessed, silky mouthfeel, bright acids and good length.
