September 2, 2019 - In perfect place now: only secondary and tertiary aromas and flavors. Very refined and approachable. Not much acidity or tannins left though, will start deteriorating soon. I would not age any further, drink up now!!!! Cheers!!!

August 18, 2019 - Annual Summer wine event featuring Brisket (Steve and Jennie's): This was drinking very well for a young Beaucastel. I feel that a few more years will allow this wine to turn the corner. Garrigue, stones, anise, good structure and shows a lot of fruit right now.

August 10, 2019 - From magnum decanted 2hrs prior by Kate the sommelier at the Rex Whistler restaurant at the Tate Britain. Purpley-black and clear. Nose of leather, vanilla, and prunes. On the front of the palette this is all soft black cherry and liquorice. This wine saunters to the back of the tongue leaving dark chocolate and wild tarry notes as it goes. This stuff is rocket fuel, the smoothest and most balanced you have tasted, leaving a long toasty finish and giant grin on the lips. Stunning.

July 20, 2019 - Best as a pop and pour—seemed to close up after a few hours air. Iron and blood notes mixed with dark red fruit. Still on the primary side but starting to show some smoke and leather notes. Form acidity, tannins have softened. Really enjoyed this butnprobabky still have a few years to reach its peak plateau phase.

    July 3, 2019 - Moreish.

Decanted for 4 hours. I tasted it along the way and during the first couple of hours it was really unapproachable. At 4 hours it was rich, smooth, and tasty. I wish I had opened two bottles! The nose smells of dark fruit, plums perhaps, but that is only slightly present on the palate which is dominated by garrigue and stony mineral flavors. Hints of anise and tobacco also. Smooth, well balanced, with a lengthy finish.

We had this with a roast lamb shoulder that was quite pronounced in its flavors and it was a nice pairing.
