March 27, 2024 - Decanted for four hours. First bottle of a case. Nice fruit but not that complex - some tannin evident still on finish. I think could use some more time in bottle so will retaste in a year or so.
March 9, 2024 - Decanted at Niku. Perfect bottle of this wine. Peaked at about 90-120 minutes of air.
March 1, 2024 - This bottle was still very much alive and dynamic. Vibrant crimson color. Bouquet of stewed fruit and leather on the nose. Plump ripe plum and berry on the palate. Very rich and elegant. Tannins fully resolved and not evident. Drink immediately.
February 8, 2024 - Held too long and it was passed it's peak. Let it air for a few hours
January 13, 2024 - Corked pretty badly. Saved since 2012. Beyond disappointed.
December 29, 2023 - Dark brooding colour, no real sign of age but also, not bright with youth. Nose shows a little more age with some light smoke, white pepper alongside blackcurrants and blackberries. Palate is beautifully integrated and in balance, fruit’s still there and tannins now fully integrated. Good balanced acidity and room to develop more secondary notes. Decent finish, sort of lingers more than keeps going but has length.
This is drinking superbly now and has a few more years ahead at it’s peak. Wonderful
December 25, 2023 - Really great CdP. Perfect for christmas eve. In a perfect spot right now and for the coming 3-5yrs I think.
December 17, 2023 - Still bright in color and fresh on the palate. Notes of fig, tar, and potting soil. Drinking really well.
December 1, 2023 - Lots of black olive with notes of plum, prunes, game and mineral. Better with some air.
November 13, 2023 - Not an Ordinary Monday (Lorenzo's , London): A good 7(!) years since we had this last ( Papies 91) and great to cross paths with it again with a bit more evolution and indeed this is now drinking beautifully and with so much more to evolve too. Already showing secondary notes, light earthy side, herbs de Provence , light spice. The fruit is still there more darker and smokier at this stage than the bright red fruited 2009 we had also on the day ( Papies 91 and young) . A very pretty bottle that is now well into the drinking window and will not fail! very good 92-93 and this definitely will be even more with 5yrs more.
