July 28, 2022 - Still going strong and in a good spot. Best with a very long decant or day 2.
September 1, 2021 - softening and coming together. balanced and food friendly. not a wow wine but very good and well made.
June 8, 2021 - Very dark, not quite as perfumed as i remember. Tannins are still present, though sofetrning.
October 26, 2020 - Intense but not a fruit bomb exactly. I'm getting some currant and blackberry along with the cherry jam but mostly secondary aromas (baking spices, cedar, leather). Fine tannins, shortish dry finish. Perhaps would have gone better with a meal less centered on bright spicy flavors (ginger, lime zest).
July 31, 2020 - Real stuffing in this wine, complexity with the black fruits and some interesting spice notes. Really has depth.
December 29, 2019 - It takes a while to open up but the grippy tannins and black fruits come out. After several days vacuvinned the cedar notes come out and are really smooth.
November 19, 2019 - This was a nice surprise. I was expecting a sloppy mess, but this was quite restrained, red fruited, and well balanced with fresh acidity, fine structure, and good perfume. It's not profound, but it's delicious.
August 23, 2019 - needs about 1 hour to open. Good nose of dark fruit
August 19, 2019 - Fruity, nice complexity. Balanced.
June 4, 2019 - The vinous equivalent of smooth jazz. Easy to understand why this $80 (!) wine has been discounted to $29. Tasted over three days.
This wine is discounted dramatically EVERY year on several flash sites. Strange, off-putting business model. Superstar winemaker Jean Hoefliger is not doing himself any favors by being associated with this label.
