March 8, 2018 - Casual dinner at S.K.Y. (Chicago, IL): This really blossomed after two hours in the glass. Initially florals, candied red cherry almost cough drop. After an hour the fruit turns more savory, earthy and almost smokey. Very red fruited throughout with juiciness and good freshness. First of a 6-pack, and I'll try to have one per year.

March 8, 2018 - Dinner at S.K.Y. (Chicago, IL): Served double blind, but really, there wasn't any way to reach this conclusion. I had thought it was old world, given all the acidity here. It was initially very thin, and had a weird candied fruit quality to it. Frankly, at first, I thought this was terrible. But air was certainly a friend to this, and it grew more flesh as the night wore on. Eventually the palate did fill out, but this was still a very high-toned wine and no amount of fruit was going to fill the gap. Heaps of acid.
