December 25, 2023 - Difficult to approach and possibly flawed. We were not sure, but unlike previous bottles this one remained pretty rough, with herbal, pine and earthy notes. What a shame when you know how beautiful this bottle can be.

May 18, 2023 - Bought this at auction awhile ago as I have a friend from this part of France who is always talking about these wines. He happened to be over so I pulled this one. Very short decant. Inky purple color, intense fruit and farmy aromas. Opened up relatively quickly, dark fruit and livorice on the palate. Felt integrated but then over time the strong tannins really built up. Not unpleasant but unusual. I guess that is the nature of the Tannat grape. This one was blended with 20% cab and drank like it was a baby. A long life ahead. Now I am curious to trying some older vintages.

January 8, 2023 - Nowhere near dead at age 22. Getting a bit softer, but still a bit tannic.

April 21, 2022 - Still so young, I think this could comfortably see out yet another decade, hasn't budged a great deal since the last outing in 2015.

If I might venture a slight criticism, it feels a little heavy-handed, with a slight alcohol afterburn. Needed a good few hours in the decanter, even now, to settle down. Whilst I'm in general agreement that it's something akin to Bordeaux, it is of itself to a certain degree - it isn't quite the classic blackcurrant/graphite profile, with a broader range of dark fruits for me.

Lower score than last time for that slightly unbalanced finish, and likely next bottle in at least 5 years.

January 30, 2022 - Still very much alive, a bit of a beast. Powerfull tannins are, for the moment, counterbalanced by enough fruit to keep this wine interesting and drinkeable. Ah, did I mention a great nose that makes one think of Pauillac?
