April 17, 2023 - Age and drink ability lifts this wine up. Decanted for an hour+ and it tasted so smooth we thought the Shiraz was blended with another wine. We all agreed this was a wine that needed food, albeit pleasant to drink. TY Scott and Mary.

March 13, 2023 - Drank as part of a syrah grape tasting. This was sole representative of new world Aussie shiraz and was great. Slow ox for an hour then decanted for another. Had some funk on the nose which blew off. Still good dark fruit, well balanced. Drinking very well has some years left.

February 4, 2023 - Company CNY dinner at One Farrer. Drank in Grassl Cru.
Appearance deep opaque intensity, black colour, sediments. Legs.
Nose is clean, pronounced intensity, with fruity aromas of black cherries, blackberries, black plums, Amarone feel. Developed.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, high alcohol (14.5%), big velvety tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of savoury black olives, blackberries, black cherries, black plums. Long spicy peppery finish.
Very good quality. Probably a beast in its youth, now more tame and good time to drink up already.

October 27, 2021 - Still wow. Had with 3 buddies over a few hours with several other amazing wines and an amazing chicken dinner. Hard to find a flaw. Maybe should score even higher. Happy I have 1 more.

October 25, 2021 - Did not rock my socks like previous bottles. May be past its prime.

(The Standish Shriaz) The Standish Dear Friends, We’ve been waiting for this wine since last summer and it was worth the wait. We started a waiting list for The Standish in October of 2006 but abandoned the concept, as there were just too many of you that wanted the wine. Now’s the time. The only caveat? There’s just no wine to go around. We will try to allocate this as fairly as possible but PLEASE do not hold Niki in contempt - she is doing her best. This is Dan Standish and his vineyard material coming together with one of the great, natural classics the Barossa Valley has yet witnessed. Yes Virginia, you can make highly extracted and exceedingly complex Barossa Shiraz with only 13.5-14.5% alcohol, little if any intervention, and resulting purity that is so intense it is almost painful. A fantastic effort: Please note: The sister wine, the 2004 Standish “The Relic” will be released later in the summer - The Relic is released approximately one year ahead of the 100% Shiraz “The Standish” which we offer below. In other words, The Relic is an earlier release - it will be the 2004 vintage and The Standish is on the 2003 vintage: VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for authentic nature in a sea of manipulated pretenders ONE SHIPMENT ONLY directly from the winery cellar with perfect provenance: 2003 Standish Shiraz “The Standish” Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Aus9921
