March 21, 2020 - Leans modern with a core of ripe cassis and maybe black cherry, but has good grip with fine tannins and enough acidity to keep it fresh. Good concentration and purfume, but not much complexity at this stage. Better on day two.

August 24, 2019 - Mike Smith 2018s & 2017s - Myriad, Quivet, Scarlett, Becklyn, and others (Saint Helena): Similar as I recall from barrel, but ultimately the Round Pond was somewhat of an enigma for me. There is purple fruit intermingling with tobacco leaf and earth, but I was getting a Pine-sol note toward the back end that I couldn’t shake. The fruit slowed down on the finish, with the tannins taking over and shutting down the core a bit. Obviously this little monkey has a few things to still work out. I know I sound like a broken record here, but leave these 2017s alone for a while.

August 9, 2019 - Following up the Napa Valley with this Round Pond. 3+hrs in the glass after pop’n’pour. This one pours redder than the Napa with a purple tinge to the rim. Earthy Rutherford nose of cigar box and damp soil after the first rain. Lighter texture as well with a more traditional Napa Valley fruit profile of dried black cherry and red currant pushing up against powerful enamel stripping chalky tannins. Wonderful balance, silky and structured, tannic finish lingers for minutes.

December 15, 2017 - Barrel samples (Cabernet Sauvignon):

    2017 Myriad Empyrean GIII
    2017 Myriad Three Twins
    2017 Myriad Round Pond
    2017 Scarlett

Huge noses on all of them, especially the Scarlett and GIII. All wines were obviously teeming with wild, energetic flavors. Lots of fruit; deep, opaque crimson purple colors in the glass; excellent viscosity; huge mouthfeel.

Clearly a lot to sort out, but well on their ways to their respective successes in the coming years. And most importantly, absolutely no detectable smoke taint whatsoever on the lots picked during/post wildfires.
