Community Tasting Notes 4

May 1, 2019 - Medium-deep lemon-yellow color. At first very unpleasant, stuffy and somewhat chemical nose with aromas of dull woody oak and some overripe, fermenting pineapple. With some air the nose gains some cleaner aromas of candied gummi bears and Bassett's wine gums along with a little bit of ripe white peach and a hint of glue. Nothing attractive here. The wine is moderately full-bodied, dry-ish and quite balanced on the palate. The problem with the taste is not the structure here, but the flavors that feel quite dull and unpleasant with stuffy, almost sawdust-like woody oak, overripe pineapple, some apple jam, a little bit of nectarine and a chemical hint of glue or thinner. The moderately high acidity lends some sense of balance to the wine, but I guess there must be some residual sugar here, making the mouthfeel quite round and lending a candied feel to the flavors. The finish is medium-long, somewhat warm and quite dull with sweet-toned flavors of tropical fruits, some stuffy wood spice, a little bit of overripe pineapple and a hint of apple jam.

An unpleasant and rather disagreeable example of Chardonnay that feels like it is made of poor-quality fruit and the winemaker has attempted to cover up the off notes with residual sugar and oak chips. The balance with the structure and the body is pretty ok here, but the taste is just plain horrible. Who on earth likes to drink garbage like this? A rip-off at 10,49€.

December 31, 2018 - This medium yellow Chardonnay had aromas of butter, yellow apple, and pear. It was medium-full bodied and creamy, with medium acidity and a touch of sweetness. The fruit on the palate was difficult to pin down. This was not an exceptional Chardonnay, but at $8 CAD how can you go wrong?

November 16, 2018 - Light, fresh, bright, but not much depth

November 6, 2018 - nose: faint slightly oaky indistinguishable fruit; palette: a little almost chardonnay like fruit very slightly oaky finish, no Seth, no roundness
