March 23, 2024 - Really starting to come on. Beautiful mouthfeel & mousse. Apricots, both peaches, tropical melons, pineapple, some green, lemon/lime zest & notes of marmalade. Punchy minerality, pronounced chalkiness, brioche, yeasty, baguette crust, hints of cream, saline, pronounced sea fossils, yellow lilies/flowers, shades of white Spring flowers, racey crisp acidity, perfect; balance, structure, tensioned, length and smartly polished finish that lasts two-minutes.

The 166ème Édition is composed of 140 wines from 13 different harvests between 1998 and 2010, and it's a blend of 45% Pinot Noir with 39% Chardonnay and 15% Pinot Meunier. Relatively young reserve wines makes up 42% of the composition, 2000 from Oger & 2006 wines from Verzy and Bouzy of note. It’s seen a minimum of six years of bottle aging.

February 16, 2024 - kɹʌɡ wɪθ dʌɡ (Chicago, IL): A great showing today -- this was another Krug that I was not particularly keen on at release, but I think this has really filled out. It's a hair on the lean side, but you can certainly find the typical Krug intensity on the palate, with more of a hard-baked biscuity aroma on the nose. The fruit veers a little mature, but coupled with the acidity, it's actually balanced pretty well for a difficult vintage like 2010.

February 3, 2024 - A dark straw-yellow appearance introduces a captivating nose of meat, candy, spices, salt, and citrus. The palate offers high acidity with hints of sherbet, tangy fruit, and lovehearts. Evolving into pronounced citrus, salt, spice, pastry, and exotic fruit, the wine concludes with a remarkably long, complex, and delicate finish. Exceptional.

December 25, 2023 - A very fresh bottle. Apples, toast and crème on the nose, though somewhat muted. The palate is another story - very rich and expansive flavors, great structure and acid, lots of life ahead! Excellent Grande Cuvée, a 2010 base year, hard to say Krug overachieves because it’s so consistently good, but definitely so for this bottle, bravo!

December 2, 2023 - Base 2010. Yellow fruits dominate everything on the nose. Very structured palate, it is here that the use of reserve wines proves decisive in order to complete a harvest of mediocre quality in order to raise the juice to Krug standards. Vinous but fresh, the wine is layered on red fruits, then toasted and all wrapped in a custard. Slender and tracing finish.

November 21, 2023 - This magnum 166eme delivers a wonderful performance, showcasing an exceptional and intense bouquet of toasts and brioche. The magnum size of this edition proves advantageous, contributing to its overall appeal. In comparison to the magnum 168eme edition tasted two weeks ago, the 166eme edition displays better all-rounded characteristics. Its palate exhibits great balance, promising a wine that can be cellared and further developed for decades to come.
