April 6, 2024 - This has been neglected/forgotten in my cellar for 4 years - time to give my first bottle a try! Opened to breathe for 3h and then decanted for 2-3 more hours. This is a big wine that really needed air. Vanilla and baking spices on the nose, on the palate cherries, graphite, earthy dirty oak, chewy tannins still, smooth smoky finish. With grilled spicy chicken tonight.

June 30, 2023 - Tuscany July 2023; 6/28/2023-7/5/2023 (Tuscany, Italy): Muted compared to the 15 and 16 even with the age. Spicier and a plenty of acidity

December 8, 2022 - Aroma of balsamic vinegar and cherries. On the palate, black olive tapenade, cherries, balsamic, tobacco and a hint of barnyard funk. Really reminded me of a top Musar. Body is massive and dense... really sticks to your mouth. Tannins are pretty much resolved at this point. Fabulous.

December 16, 2021 - Licorice and some manure on the nose, cherry and tobacco on the palate. Nice long finish. Maybe missing a tiny bit of depth, but all the flavors present were balanced elegantly.

November 21, 2020 - Cherry and tobacco. Tannins are still a little grippy early on. After a few hours in decanter this loosens up a bit. Could use a few more years, but is definitely drinkable if given plenty of air.

October 17, 2019 - Phenomenal bottle of wine. Started singing its colors around 3 hours after being opened. Medium opaque. As the last person posted, plum and dark cherry. Great chalky texture. One of the better wines of the year.

February 5, 2018 - Here I found a rich and layered display of ripe plum, crushed strawberry and cherry with sweet spices and minerals wafting up from the glass. It was velvety on the palate, with dark textures coating the senses in fleshy black cherry, violet florals and sweet minerals. The density of the wine was nearly enveloping all of its fine tannin yet became energetic and fresh on the long dark fruited finish. It’s hard not to like the 2012 Capanna Riserva.
