June 16, 2023 - A very nice Brunello which is already drinking well and will continue to develop for another 10+ years. Made from a single vineyard, aged in oak for over two years. Medium garnet colour, tawny touch. Medium+ intensity aroma of dried cherries, toast, tobacco, plums, dried roses, leather, hint of old cupboard. Medium+ body, vibrant and still a bit tight texture with smoky and spiced red fruit flavours, high acidity, medium+ tannins, long finish.

January 9, 2022 - At initial opening, still quite tight, earth and forest floor nose. 2 hours later, ripe plums, pipe tobacco and vanilla. Very pleasant with an Angus Striploin.

March 26, 2021 - Tasty young Brunello. A bit angular and stern, but the fruit is concentrated and expressive and it's pretty drinkable behind the structure.

    February 27, 2021 - Tasted Blind

A: Pale garnet (verging on medium which indicates Sangiovese rather than Nebbiolo)
N: Violet, rose,, red sour cherry, red currant, raspberry, cinnamon , dried herbs, leather and some VA, mushroom .Oak characteristics are subtle.
P: Dry, medium (+) acidity , medium alcohol, medium (+) chalky tannin, medium (+) body, intensity and long finish
C: love the balance of acid and tannin. good intensity and better finish. The complexity spans clusters in primary, secondary and tertiary aromatic categories. This is an outstanding wine and for $60 not bad at all.

    Guess & Mistakes:
I thought old world, cool climate, Nebbiolo. I didn't get the mushroom element until after I called the grape. Also the acid and tannin should be so marked that you fear for your amalgam fillings. This was not the case here.

February 24, 2021 - Tasted blind. Pale (+) ruby with a garnet hue. Med (+) aromas of tart red cherry, dried cranberry, red/purple flowers, dried herbs (oregano) , earth, leather, a hint of oak spice. Dry, med (+) acidity, med (+) tannins and high alcohol (14.5%). Med (+) to full body, med (+) flavor intensity and length. Definitely Old World, moderate climate. The color, ripeness of the fruit point towards Sangiovese with a little age, rather than Nebbiolo. Same with elevated acid and tannin, with the acid prevailing. The oak points to a Chianti Classico Riserva or, in this case, a leaner, elegant expression of BdM.

February 6, 2021 - Buvabilité extraordinaire déjà, mais on dirait que le vin n'a pas encore de personnalité. Jamais très impressionné par Caparzo, opinion personnelle.

November 10, 2019 - Good but not worth $80 retail price. Drank from cellar decanted

November 10, 2019 - Not worth $80 retail wine store but thankfully it was 20% off. Even so, there are better wines at that price. I did decant from cellar. Uninteresting & average finish.
