March 18, 2024 - C: Dark as Ink. Red-Blue on the rim. N: Bitter, burned P: Cherries some oak, Prominent but smooth tannins, nice sweet experience and balanced acid. Sum: Reminds me of some Italian cherry-tasting wines, but here with more tannins. It is not over the hill yet. 5 bottles left. Would match it with some red meat and creamy sauce.
October 13, 2023 - As one would guess with Tannat, lots of tannins, good fruit, and balance.
May 16, 2023 - Tasted after a two hour decant.
Dark, opaque ruby in colour with aromas of black fruit, black liquorice & somewhat earthy. On the palate, full bodied, black fruit, blackberry/cassis, chocolate, well integrated oak, earthy, medium acidity, high soft tannins with a long finish to black pepper & liquorice. This wine is very soft & mellow, would have been interesting to taste it younger.
July 16, 2022 - PMO. Dark fruit, plum, blackberry, chocolate, rubber, licorice and smoke. Chewy tannins. Bold and powerful, fans of the style will appreciate it.
June 19, 2022 - C: Dark ruby
N: Small, Round, Cedar, Oak, Dark fruit
P: Full Body, Dry, Round Tannins, Balanced Acid
Sum: Best Tannat wine so far. Reminds of a Rhone Blend. Goes with wild game
December 11, 2020 - Tasted blind on first night, then revisited on following night (at which time I knew the wine's identity). I had thought last night that this may have been Syrah, and I even called out Brosseau Vineyard, as I find that plot here in California to exhibit some similar tasting markers. Blue fruit, iron, intensity. I was wrong, and with no experience in drinking Tannat, I got to learn something. Retasting tonight, this is a mouth filling wine of licorice, dark chocolate. blueberries and a rosemary tinged finish. I could drink this with pizza or something that could stand up to the flavors of the wine, but I am not sure I would want more than a glass by itself.
October 16, 2020 - Great value with lots of dark fruit and some oak. Full bodied and rustic. Not sure I like how tannat ages. Gets some quite funky aromas.
September 20, 2020 - Good, different variety.
April 21, 2020 - Dark purple color. Big Black fruit with loads of dark chocolate. Hints of smoke, purple flowers , tobacco and cedar. Big on tannin, but not overwhelming. Long finish. Really good.
April 4, 2020 - Dark ruby colour with a purple rim.
Fruit driven. Forrest berries (dark fruit, mostly dark cherry, blackberry and blueberry). Cedar, tobacco and smoke. Has matured nicely since I last tried it. Concentrated and full bodied. Perfect with BBQ. Some dry tannins in the finish but they have become silkier. The bitterness has disappeared. Amazing value. Drinks very well now but can be cellared for 4-5 more years.
