    September 14, 2023 - Received a partial bottle as a gift from a neighbor.

Had a sip. Dark red on the pour with purple tinges around the edge; Opaque in the glass. Nose of Cherry and Blackberry, with alcohol hints on the nose. Full-bodied and hearty, with a robust explosion of flavor on the initial sip; followed by grippy tannins. "Sweetish" notes of cured meat and fruit on the palate. Peppery, but not as spicy as their Zinfandels. Nice acidity. Pleasant lingering finish with a little 'pucker.' Full of character; Smooth and refined.

    Tasted non blind.

Dark garnet color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of talc, flowers, boysenberries, roasted meat and plums. Flavors of plums, raspberries and boysenberries. Medium acidity, medium to firm tannin, full bodied. Drink or hold.

March 23, 2023 - This Very Good++ to Excellent wine needs a decant. The first night from Coravin it was a disjointed but good, seeming to show reduction. The following night the bottle was decanted for a few hours with some aggressive aeration. Lovely drinking and it continued to evolve for hours more. Rich style with roasted meats, plum, baked earth, deep notes. Good balance here for a big wine.

    Tasted non blind.

Purple color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of soapstone, currants, plums, saddle leather and a bit of thatch. Flavors of black raspberries, cherries and plums. Tart acidity, drying tannin, full bodied. Drink now. Maybe into the short term.
