November 26, 2023 - Pop and pour, drank half the bottle over 1.5 hours. This was grapey, earthy, structured and still has some tannin. It held up well while it was in front of me and likely will improve with another couple years.

November 24, 2023 - Beautiful red. Look and feels young. Red berries. Pomegranate. Fresh and acid driving. Long, gentle taste. Still fresh and lovely.

November 4, 2023 - Explosive nose of red and black fruits, spice, some bramble. Palate was fresh with layered red and black fruit like black raspberries, dark cherries, red plum, faint wild strawberries. Some black pepper spice, faint oak, and earth emerges mid-palate. Finish is creamy, long, with fruit and spice predominant and tannin integrated.

Only complaint would be a tad bit more acidity as the fruit came across a bit sweet. Certainly hid the 15% alcohol well. Drinking at peak, but no hurry, now-2026.

October 11, 2023 - Opened, poured and let sit about 20 min. Not much on the nose. On first sip, acidity is the most noticeable, with over-ripe stewed fruit close behind. Tannins not an issue; medium/soft mouthfeel. By the end of the glass the acidity has mellowed out and the over-ripeness has faded. The fruit that is left is still a touch stewed, but OK. Not a typical zin profile, and definitely not Papera profile. Hard to see this improving with more time. My last bottle and while all have been drinkable, all have been disappointing. I should have been drinking these sooner - zin isn't BDX.

September 23, 2023 - Enjoyed around campfire in Galena. Does not taste like a typical Zinfandel but more like a pinot blended with either Italian or Spanish wine. Odd impression, I know. Not a knock but flavor profile hard to pin down. Nice fruit which was great on second day. Bright, and nice acidity without coming off as burning. Feel this back of tongue and back of top palate. Hidden energy. Does taste a bit like cough syrup but for only ten seconds. Finish seems to run longer than expected. There is fruit but can't pin down what kind. Also other flavors with that cough syrup, perhaps something soil related. It's not mineral. I like it and quite different than say an entry level zinfandel, which for me justifies the single vineyard purchase. Think this would appeal to a wide range of tasters. Recommended. Feels ready now but strength of fruit tells me can last three years longer. I like reviewers Quiller and Hoservin's take on this.
