April 14, 2024 - Similar to the other bottle that I had about 1.5 years ago, this showed well but was not as dense or as complex as I had anticipated. Tasted with a group yesterday who liked it but thought that it was less concentrated and lively than we expected for a Turkey wine. It is soft and plush now so it is not clear to me how much longer this will be at peak (if it is even still there).
March 26, 2023 - A big smooth beast. Gobs of dark mountain fruit. Not sweet or cloying. Tannins are mostly integrated but this hasn't turned flabby yet. Raspberries, black cherry, and even blueberry show through on the palate. Light spice notes one the finish. Drink now-2024.
March 12, 2023 - Still has legs, gobs of mountain fruit.
February 14, 2023 - Give this wine a good 2 1/2 hour decant for it to come together. In a great spot now but a lot of runway left on this one…an easy 3-5 year’s minimum of additional aging is available. After the noted time the nose was espresso with hints of dark chocolate and perhaps a bit of spice as well. Flavor profile was blackberry and some raspberry, also with maybe a hint of spice on the very long finish. Tremendous structure! We started drinking an hour to soon and was landing on a 93, but when the magic moment arrived the finish was mouth coating and long…very long yielding a 94 in my book!
February 1, 2023 - Wow this is drinking perfectly now, super well balanced and full, gentle for a zin but maybe due to age. Love love love
January 25, 2023 - One of my favorite curlies ends. In a good drinking window. Drank in Hawaii.
January 6, 2023 - Very nice.
December 28, 2022 - Very nice.
September 2, 2022 - PnP with gourmet rustic Italian pizza along with a Sleight of Hand Psychadelic Syrah. The Turley was ready to go and jumped out to the lead with smoky and meaty aromas, dark cherry fruit with excellent minerality and a spicy finish. The Psych edged the Turley out by the end of the meal after it opened up but both were excellent.
August 2, 2022 - Ripe and juicy. Big nose - currant, olive, toasted oak. Simple flavors with a soft finish. This has smoothed out. Currant and dark cherry.
