Community Tasting Notes 36

September 19, 2012 - This was an experiment to see what happens to BN over time. Truth is, I bought the bottle for the colorful label. One of the most festive BN labels I can remember. I remember the typical bright, shallow, fruity flavors when released. So here it is six years later...well?

Prune juice. The color was dark orangy brown. It looked like an old old red wine. It looked burned.
Not much of a nose. The taste was prunes with a slight astringency. Heavy sediment in the bottle.

The lesson is...drink in its prime. Does not age well.

January 9, 2010 - light berry taste, almost unpleasant finish

August 12, 2009 - way past its prime. bottle was "lost" in the cellar. really only opened it to see what happened to it. It was drinkable, but barely. Suprisingly the fruit was still there, but there was no tannins at all, so no structure, and the finish was pretty bad. Maybe if i had drank this wine in the first few months of bottling it would have been alright.

January 11, 2009 - Interesting experiment for me on a wine recently gifted to us (hmmm). Knew it was well past its prime. Surprisingly this was just fine when first opening as an in-offensive, plain drinking wine. Re-corked left-overs & placed on the counter. Re-opened next day to find it no longer any good. Put in fridge and was better, but started getting a distinctive after-taste that made me finally pour it out.

October 10, 2008 - couldn't even drink a glass. But, was drank after its drinking window...
