August 20, 2020 - About as good as Chianti Classico Riserva gets. Terrior, acid, fruit, depth, everything. Excellent QPR.

  • Swaggering Beaunie Likes this wine:

February 28, 2019 - The wine presents a full-bodied and nicely balanced mix of generous acidity, tobacco, leather, toasted oak, chocolate, and dark plum. Ready now. Good QPR @ $24 from Total Wine.

January 3, 2019 - Great balance, lots of fruit, wonderful with Manicotti. Short finish. 100% Sangiovese.

December 24, 2018 - Magnum bottle. Medium red, medium body. Smells very “old” and musty. Not in a bad way and not like a Rhône either, more like an old cedar closet. Decanted for 45 min before drinking. Still has good fruit, not an incredibly long finish, but nice balance. Pairs well with beef rib roast.

September 17, 2018 - Drinking this without decanting, without food ... it would be better with food. Very nice nose of cherries, medium body, moderate tannin (better in 2-3 years) and good balancing acidity. I bought this in lieu of buying more Renieri Brunello (drank 2011s, own 2012, had 2013 at dinner 2 weeks ago). To set the record straight this is not Brunello. It lacks the structure and complexity (worth a try, sigh). I like it but don't like it more than the Monsanto 2013 Riserva in my wine cabinet. This bottling has a reasonable mid palate but relatively short finish. The Monsanto finishes much better and having drunk many, I'll buy more. I have a longer history with Monsanto, a favorite but that doesn't enter into it. This is a very nice wine worth buying, better a couple bucks cheaper.
